(Utah, United States) - My seven-year-old was very excited to receive this castle for Christmas. She loves it - though it didn't quite meet her expectations after seeing the TV commercials. There is very little actual play area, Cinderella's bedroom at the top of the stairs is the only real room in the castle, and even it is very small. The dolls don't actually fit at the top of the stairs or in the room when the bed is pulled down, so they have to sort of hover rather than walking. The downstairs is mostly the front door. There is a small parlor/fireplace area, but it's not large enough for practical play. Consequently, we've found that most of the story action takes place in front of the castle, with it serving primarily as a backdrop. Durability-wise, it is more rickety than I expected, but no more fragile than your average Barbie house. Still, it's fun and magical and the chiming clock was a BIG hit. My daughter had to choose between this and a GameBoy and I'm very glad she choose this. She and her younger sister play with it often and it's fun to hear them making up their own stories using the fairy-tale springboard this castle provides. Editorial Reviews While all the Disney princesses (and there are quite a few of them) have their own unique positive qualities, none possess the raw glamour quotient of Cinderella. She’s treated horribly by her step-sisters but somehow lands both the smashing outfit and the ticket to the ball where she just happens to connect with The Handsome Prince and live Happily Ever After. This castle play set recaptures the magic of that night as it folds open to reveal a turning dance floor, a dress stand, and a clock that chimes at midnight. There are dress stands replete with gowns and accessories and plenty of other movable parts to engage the imagination.
