Over time, he has mastered it and now at 20 months has been drawing away for many many months and just loves it! I have long since turned the sound effects (cookie monster and elmo) OFF - they couldn't be more annoying or louder if they tried, way too loud. My son could care less about the sound effects, he just loves doodling and making his own pictures and he is very proud of himself when he erases it all and starts over...as he should be:) We love it and just bought a mini "take-along" version (w/o cookie or elmo) by fisher price to keep him entertained in the grocery store, car seat etc. My son is very tough on his toys and has thrown it, dragged it around slammed it all over the place and it still works perfectly. Plus, it has a thick pen which is great in helping little hands grasp on and get used to using a pen, crayon pencil etc. Thumbs up on this one!
